Part II of the trip
Two Little Fairy Angels – Faye Amrita and Anara
The second part of my trip took me from Boston to New York City on a bus that cost only $10—complete with Wi-Fi, power outlets, and a restroom—while the cheapest Amtrak ticket was $114. Sometimes the best bargains come with the best stories.
Two Little Fairy Angels
The highlight of the trip was meeting two adorable little girls, both born just days apart.
First, I met my six-week-old granddaughter, Faye Amrita Shah. She is incredibly cute, peaceful, and remarkably calm. The following day, I met Anara, daughter of Anuj and Carolyn, who is older than Faye by just ten days.

Both girls were wonderfully well-behaved and a delight to be around. During my visit, Krietta and Niral also had me help document our family history by creating a family tree covering three generations on both sides of the family, including births, marriages, and those who have passed away. It was a meaningful exercise in preserving family heritage for future generations.
Meeting Carolyn and Seeing Anuj's New Chapter
I also had the pleasure of meeting Carolyn in person for the first time. She is exceptionally talented, with accomplishments ranging from advanced yoga practice and belly dancing to a warm and engaging personality.
Her academic background is equally impressive: a Bachelor's degree in English Literature from Denison University, a Master's degree in Journalism from New York University, studies at University of Oxford, and several other academic pursuits.
We enjoyed a fascinating conversation about her work in B2B SaaS marketing, as well as her interests in fashion design, film criticism, and storytelling. Anuj recommended that I watch the TV series The New Look, and we also discussed Hamnet.
Their penthouse rooftop offered stunning, colorful views of Midtown Manhattan. The family is also planning an exciting trip to Naxos and other Greek islands later this summer.
And speaking of Anuj, I must note his remarkable transformation into his new avatar: a devoted and an attentive father. It is wonderful to see him embrace family life so wholeheartedly.
A Kindergarten Graduation Filled with Music
The next morning, I attended Inaya's kindergarten graduation ceremony. Both parents, grandparents, and I joined many other proud families in celebrating the Class of 2044.
It was an impressive and heartwarming event. Music teacher Warren Bloom, who has taught music in public schools for fifteen years, did a remarkable job. He had been preparing the students for this celebration since February and provided educational introductions to each song, explaining musical concepts such as tempo, melody, key, dynamics, and cultural context.
The performances included:
"This-a-Way Valerie", one of many variations of an African-American play song believed to be more than 200 years old (lyrics )
"I Whistle a Happy Tune" from The King and I, used to teach how musical characters express emotions and overcome fears.
"Everybody Wants to Be a Cat", a lively jazz-inspired favorite from The Aristocats.
"Down By the Station", a classic children's song originally written in 1948.
Watching the children sing and perform with such enthusiasm was a joyful reminder of how much effort teachers invest in nurturing confidence and creativity. Found these songs at the you tube and lyrics online.

Brooklyn Walks and Family Time
This marked Pratimabhen's 30th trip to the United States, an impressive milestone in itself.
Over the next two days, we enjoyed leisurely walks around the beautiful DUMBO neighborhood of Brooklyn, taking in the waterfront views, the Manhattan skyline, and the lively atmosphere. We also shared a delightful lunch together, making for a fitting conclusion to a memorable family visit.
Family, after all, remains life's greatest destination.
